About bioXtra

From pioneering enzyme science to trusted dry mouth care, bioXtra has always been driven by one clear purpose: improving the daily wellbeing of people living with dry mouth.

The story began in Belgium in the early 1980s, when a scientist developed a strong interest in extracting valuable proteins from cow’s milk. This work led to the world’s first industrial production unit for Lactoferrin and Lactoperoxidase. In 1999, these scientific developments became the foundation for a new range of dry mouth products containing enzymes derived from milk and egg white, designed to resemble enzymes naturally present in saliva. This marked the beginning of bioXtra.

In 2012, Lifestream Pharma acquired the bioXtra brand name and formulations. Under its management, the brand expanded its distribution network across Europe, South America, Brazil, Asia and the Middle East, making bioXtra available to more people affected by dry mouth.

A major milestone followed in 2024, when bioXtra Oral Gel, bioXtra Gel Mouthspray and bioXtra Mouthrinse became the first dry mouth products to obtain Medical Device Class IIa status under the European Medical Device Regulation. This achievement confirmed the safety, effectiveness and quality of the bioXtra range.

In 2025, OraBio acquired Lifestream Pharma, creating new opportunities to further strengthen the brand and expand access to dry mouth solutions worldwide. Together, Lifestream Pharma and OraBio are committed to combining expertise, innovation and international reach to deliver effective solutions for people suffering from dry mouth.

This joint effort is supported by a shared responsibility towards people and the planet. The bioXtra Dry Mouth range and Periovance are manufactured in a purpose-built facility that uses renewable electricity, supported by solar panels and green energy suppliers. Wherever possible, raw materials and packaging are sourced locally or within the EU, with preference given to suppliers that demonstrate legal compliance and clear sustainability policies.

Together, Lifestream Pharma and OraBio continue to build on bioXtra’s scientific heritage, working to make trusted dry mouth care available to more people around the world.
